(SANDIA CREST, NEW MEXICO)
Whataburger. Waffle House. Gas station coffee. Meals of champions…or college students with cameras looking for adventure.
We headed out from the city early afternoon, making it up the mountain in time to catch the sun after midday. Santiago drove, Rodrigo rode up front; JeNee, Chelsea and I sat in the back, scouting sights to photograph. We spent the afternoon roaming the Sandia Crest area, exploring, capturing, finding. The evening ended with some foggy mountain sights, lots of great road trip music, and a final sunset back up at the crest (sounds like a Hallmark movie, but trust me, it was cool).
The day began with a healthy lunch of Whataburger, made a midway stop at the gas station for coffee refuel, and ended with Waffle House chocolate chip pancakes (for me, at least). My friends are a part of this great photography culture in Albuquerque, which is probably one of the most exciting up-and-coming parts of this city. I love spending quality time with my friends and finding the beautiful parts of home, whether that's at semi-healthy restaurants or in the New Mexico wilderness. A landscape can fade into the background when it’s home, but here, I’m reminded to dig in and explore a bit more. You never know what you’ll find.
