I spent the summer of 2016 in Australia, traveling, exploring and volunteering in Sydney, NSW and Townsville, QLD with my two sisters.
Having previously visited Australia on family trips, this adventure was the first on our own. It felt a bit like following in the footsteps of my parents, who had met while traveling the world themselves.
I made these collages for a project on family identity. The landscape photographs were taken on the summer trip to Australia. The shoes, with the exception of one collage, belong to my parents. In many ways, the shoes capture the life, work, and personality of their owners. The notes, penned by my parents, are a part of my childhood and family history.
My mother and father have left an amazing legacy of love and service.
These are my postcards back home.
