During the time these photographs were made, each of these students were youth leaders for an organization called Young Life. After one leader meeting at my house, I asked each student if I could take their photograph and if they could answer three questions. I set up a single light in the studio, a table with slips of paper and instructions, then made the portraits. After their photograph was taken, I asked each student to individually follow the instructions on their own slip of paper, privately, without anybody else seeing their answers. This mini-project is an exercise in storytelling, as well as privacy and honesty.
